Original cloth gilt (spines lightly sunfaded, extremities lightly rubbed, head and tail of spine bumped). Provenance: Edwina and Piers Dixon (Churchill's granddaughter and son-in-law, presentation inscriptions and bookplate in each volume) -- sold at Sotheby's, 15 July 1998, lot 123. First English edition, PRESENTATION COPY TO CHURCHILL'S GRANDDAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW. The books are signed three times, on the pastedown and half-title in vol. I and title of vol. II (signatures on half-title and title smeared). Churchill signed the books shortly before his 90th birthday in 1964. Woods A8(a).
