Lot Essay

Dixon studied at Heatherley's, and later under Bougereau and Lefebvre at the Academie Julian in Paris. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1886 and the New Gallery from 1895. His Large watercolour Lions was shown at the R.A. in 1891 and purchased bt the Trustees of the Chantrey Bequest-now the Tate Gallery.
