Lot Essay

The 1986 film adaptation of Briggs' 1982 graphic novel follows the humorous and poignant story of the Bloggses, characters previously seen in his book Gentleman Jim, and their reaction to the news of an imminent nuclear attack on Britain by the Soviet Union. It was revealed later that Briggs had based the retired couple on his own parents.
