Lot Essay

This magnificent carpet was woven in the Ushak region of Western Anatolia. The Medallion Ushak group is the best-known of classical Ottoman workshop weaving. For centuries they have been prized by collectors for the sense of grandeur they evoke with their bold central medallions, delicate floral vine-scrolls and red and indigo palettes.
