Lot Essay

See Catherine Join-Dieterle, Musée du Petit Palais, Catalogue de Céramiques I - Hispano-Mauresques, Majoliques Italiennes, Isnik, des Collections Dutuit, Ocampo et Pierre Marie, Paris, 1984, cat. 78 for a flask in the Petit Palais attributed to the Workshop of Orazio Fontana. In Wendy Watson's opinion, both it and the present example were painted by Francesco Durantino.
