An albarello painted with a very similar portrait is in the Louvre; see J. Giacomotti, Les majoliques des musées nationaux, Paris, 1974, cat. 456. At the top and bottom of the wreath within which the portrait is reserved in what is likely the symbol for a pharmacy, incorporating the letter 'S'. See E. Fortnum, Marks and Monograms, co. 94 and Ballardini, Corpus I, figs. 297-301.
