Each surmounted by a ormolu-mounted urn with flaming finial, one pedestal opening to two drawers and a cupboard, the other with two later shelves to lead-lined interior, warming door with French & Co. black stencil 28927 to interior and the other stamped twice to inside of top drawer, with stamp to interior of both urns

The urns and pedestals almost certainly belonged to the London dealer and 'expert' Henry Symons whose 'remarkable and extensive collection of rare and costly art property' was sold at American Art Association, New York in 1915. Symons was one of the dealers from whom French & Company were known to have sourced property. The pieces were sold on by French & Company to their most important client, William Randolph Hearst whose extensive purchases led to his eventual bankruptcy and a series of sales in the 1930s and 1940s.
