In the Louis XIV style, with Portor marble top, the frieze carved with trellis and a female mask on square tapering legs joined by stretchers, with French and Company stencil 17382 on underside of marble and cross strut, with printed paper label to underside 2,588

Lot Essay

The table likely belonged to Mary Duke Biddle, a great enthusiast for the arts and philanthropist whose foundation bears her name. Her marriage to Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle, Jr. in 1915 ended in divorce in 1931, the year that this table was acquired by French & Company.
