Lot Essay

Pedoni, about whom little is known, was a native of Ticino, the area surrounding Lake Lugano in Northern Italy, and worked primarily in Cremona. There he produced both interior and exterior architectural stone ornament -- all in the same highly worked relief carving as the present lot. This included work in the Palazzo Raimondi and two fireplaces in the Palazzo Communale of Cremona of 1502.
