ATTRIBUTED TO THE VARRESE PAINTER, CIRCA 350-330 B.C.
The obverse decorated in two registers, each with five figures, the upper with a draped female at the center seated on a tripod stool, holding a mirror in her raised left hand, a nude youth before her gesturing with his right arm, his left arm akimbo, a ball of wool above, a standing draped female behind the youth, a patera in the crook of her left arm, a wreath in her lowered right, a loutrophoros behind her, to the far left a draped female seated on a tripod stool, looking back at a standing nude youth, leaning on a staff, his arm on her shoulder, the lower register with a standing draped female at the center, a wreath in her raised right hand, facing left and looking back at a seated youth, nude but for a mantle draped over his lap, holding a staff, a draped female behind him leaning forward, a seated nude youth to the left, holding a staff and looking back at a standing draped female with a branch; a band of crossing volutes and rosettes between the registers, the neck with a profile female head emerging from a blossom amidst elaborate scrolling; the reverse with a standing draped female within an Ionic naiskos, the podium with a band of grape vine, framed by four draped female figures, to the right a seated female holding a wreath above a standing female holding a patera and a branch, to the left a seated female with a filleted ball of wool above a standing female stepping up toward the podium with a branch, ovolo encircling below and above, the neck with a draped female seated on a rock holding a cista and a wreath, rosettes, zigzag, rays, ovolo and a palmette on both sides of the neck, molded ovolo on the rim, the voluted handles with laurel on the outer face, wave on the edges, large palmette complexes below the handles, details in added white and yellow
