The handle-plates in the form of lanceolate leaves, each with a head of Silenus filling the pointed end, with a long flowing beard and moustache, a snub nose and upturned equine ears, palmettes and tendrils above, the upturned handles fluted

Acquired by the owner's grandfather in Rome and brought to the U.S. in the late 1940s.
