St.-Julien
Although the commune does not boast a first growth château, a higher percentage of ch?teaux were classified here in 1855 than in any other commune. The wines display equilibrium, refinement, and a subtlety that distinguish them out from their showier neighbors, a quality known among wine lovers as breed. At the northern limit of the commune, the magnificent vineyard of Léoville-Las-Cases is separated from that of Château Latour by the smallest of margins.
To the south is the village of Beychevelle, home to the château of the same name as well as the very fine second growth Ducru-Beaucaillou.
