The fourth ship of the Royal Navy to bear the name, H.M.S. Repulse was a 64-gun Third Rate ship-of-the-line built by Fabian of Cowes and launched on 28th November 1780.
On 10th March 1800, having been driven off course by heavy weather, Repulse struck a submerged rock off the Glénan Islands on the Britanny coast and began to take on water. The crew were eventually forced to abandon ship and the majority of the survivors were taken as prisoners of war.
