The Months of the Year
the complete set of twelve engravings, circa 1640s, with an unidentified Words watermark, good impressions, one with wide margins, the others with thread margins, one trimmed and creased, otherwise in generally good condition; with The Four Seasons after Jacopo Bassano, the set of four engravings, reverse copies after Johannes I and Raphael I Sadeler (cf. Hollstein 513, 514, 178, 189), with small margins, some defects, generally in good condition; and Hans Sebald Beham The Holy Family under a Tree (Hollstein, Pauli 889; Bartsch 123) woodcut, 1521, watermark City Gate, a good impression of the second, final state, trimmed on or inside the borderline, a short, skilfully repaired tear at upper sheet edge, a small nick at the lower left corner, otherwise in generally good condition; together with John Baptist Jackson (c. 1701-1780) after Jacopo Bassano The Entombment (Kainen 19), chiaroscuro woodcut, 1739, printed from four blocks in different shades of brown, with margins, a 20 mm. repaired tear at the centre of the lower sheet edge, two short tears at the right lower sheet edge (18)
