AN EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE AND FINELY CARVED RHINOCEROS HORN 'PRUNUS' LIBATION CUP
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Of elegantly curved conical form, subtly carved in relief as a knotted tree trunk from which gnarled budding and blossoming prunus branches of varying length emerge, the pointed branches extending downwards towards the base of the cup with the exception of one branch which continues over the rim to the interior of the cup, the material of a rich lustrous golden honey tone
