Lot Essay

Cf. F. Caille and F. Cologni, 'The Cartier Collection: Jewelry', Flammarion, 2004, for an image of the brooch and a caption stating that the brooch is Cartier Paris, 1936, and that initially two identical brooches were made to be worn on a hoop bracelet of polished yellow gold, but were eventually sold separately.
