flattened oval box, the hinged cover, convex sides and base of mother-of-pearl engraved with strapwork scrolls bordering floral motifs interspersed with baluster foliage with gold piqué-point inlay, reeded gold mounts with scrolled chasing on the lid and underside of the incorporated thumbpiece
