Gilt-finished lever movement, bi-metallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, wolf's tooth winding, white enamel dial, silver cuvette, Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands, circular case, hinged back inscribed H. S. ^2, in brass holder with screwed bezel, all in a wooden deck box, case, dial and movement signed, case and cuvette stamped .925 and FFBA

Lot Essay

Accmpanied by a wooden deck box with label reading Issued from H. M. Chronometer Depôt Bradford-on-Avon 1945, further accompanied by copy of the Admiralty ledger.

It is interesting to note that the present lot was purchased by the Admiralty on the 8th September 1943 and transferred to H.M.S Southdown on 11th July 1945, then to Taunton depot 26th April 1946. Struck off the books 1st August 1961.
