Lot Essay

Illinois Springfield Watch Co. was organized in 1869 and the first movements were produced in 1872. They produced watches under the model names "Stuart", "Mason", "Bunn", Miller", and "Currier". In addition they produced Railroad-grade pocket watches. Due to financial difficulties, the company restructured and changed its name to Illinois Watch Company, which was later purchased by Hamilton in 1927. Under Hamilton's leadership, the production of the Illinois watch continued until 1939.
