Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1993 and its subsequent sale on July 26 of the same year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe wooden presentation box and outer packaging.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe produced the reference 3970 from 1986 until approximately 2004. The model was available in yellow, white and pink gold and platinum. It was produced in four series with the following configuration:
- 1st series: snap-on full back, gold applied baton hour markers, feuille hands
- 2nd series: screw-down full back, gold applied baton hour markers, feuille hands
- 3rd series: screw-down full back and sapphire display back, gold applied lapidated hour markers, baton hands
- 4th series same as the 3rd series but with new serial numbers and delivered with deployant clasps. The reference 5970 replaced the 3970 in 2004.
