Abraham Lous Breguet - Paris, 1747 - 1823
One of the most creative and inventive horologists of all time, Breguet made many advances in timekeeping, including the 'pare-chute' anti-shock device, overcoil and tourbillon carriage. Breguet did not operate in a traditional manner, which involved apprentices carrying out the work. He hired skilled craftsmen to implement his designs. Such was the quality of his work that he attracted the attention of Marie Antoinette, who commissioned a watch from him. Upon its completion, after both Marie Antoinette and Breguet's death, it held the title of most complications of its time.
