Lot Essay

Roger Vivier was Christian Dior's close collaborator over many years, producing iconic and innovative shoes and sandals for haute couture. The 'comma' heel was one of his most successful innovations. See Les Souliers de Roger Vivier', an exhibition held at the Musée des Arts de la Mode, 9 December 1987-13 March 1988, page 43 and page 19, dated 1962.
