Pieter de Molijn (London 1595-1661 Haarlem)
DRAWINGS FROM THE COLLECTION OF MR JILES BOON (1916-2009) (LOTS 201-223) Jiles 'Jelle' Boon married his wife Cornelia Neeltje Witvliet in 1942 and, shortly afterwards, began working with the international trading company 'Van Velzen's Katoenmaatschappij' in Rotterdam. In 1958 he built a country house for his family in Rhoon, near Rotterdam, which also provided a home for Mr Boon's growing collection. Embracing a wide variety of objects, the collection reflected Mr Boon's broad interests and his passion for high-quality craftsmanship. As well as Dutch Old Master Drawings, he collected Dutch paintings, Dutch 18th Century glassware and silver, Chinese ceramics and an extensive range of Netherlandish mortars. Many of the drawings in the following selection bear Jiles Boon's collector's mark on the verso: a simple 'B' (see right). Where this appears, it has been noted in the Provenance.
