Lot Essay

Three Chelsea Pensioners follow the course of a campaign in a newspaper. They sit below a map of India, where they may have served in quelling the Indian Mutiny. A tattered French flag, captured during the Napoleonic campaign, hangs above them, while a helmet on the wall behind serves as a reminder of previous conflict.
