On the basis of style the present group of St Michael and the Dragon can be related to the figure of an Angel on an ivory relief by Iohannes Sporer (fl. 1720-1759) depicting Judith and Holofernes in the Museo Civico, Bologna (E. Philippowich, Elfenbein, Brunswick, 1961, p. 149, fig. 113).
