Each engraved with the crowned monogram MT for Maria Theresia Braganza, comprising a cushion shaped two-handled entree dish and cover, the finial lacking, the interior of the dish and cover engraved '3', 29.5 cm. wide; marked on side and interior cover; a circular bombé two-handled tureen and cover, finial lacking, some damage and repair, 31 cm. wide, marked on base and interior cover; a two-handled deep dish, 43 cm. wide, marked on the side; and a pair of two-handled sauce-tureens and covers, 20 cm. wide, marked on sides and covers

Maria Theresia Braganza, Infantin of Portugal (1855-1944) was the third wife of Archduke Karl Ludwig of Austria (1833-1896), and therefore became the sister-in-law of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (1830-1916). Maria Theresia and Karl Ludwig had two daughters, Archduchess Maria Annunziata of Austria (1876-1961) and Archduchess Elisabeth Amalie of Austria (1878-1960).
