Lot Essay

These wall-lights are en suite with a small group of wall-lights bearing Weduwe Dorens' trade labels to the backplates (see illustration). These share the same rosette decoration to the backplate and the distinctive metal core to the ring. Weduwe Dorens 'Spiegelfabriek' appears to have been active as ornamental carvers, producing mirrors and wall-lights, and are recorded on the Rokin from at least 1807.
