Lot Essay

Two comparable but slightly larger figures of music making putti by Roccatagliata are in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and illustrated in the catalogue of the travelling exhibition of 1986 Renaissance Master Bronzes from the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Washington, 1986, pp185-187, no's 47 , 48.
