Faithful in detail to the same engraving as the pair of punchbowls at right, but "rarer" still, according to Howard (The Sailing Ship on Chinese Porcelain, Ellis Memorial Antique Show, Fall 1977, p 49), this plate depicts the St Albans, a 64-gun ship of the British fleet that was part of the center attack under Admiral Rodney. Both Howard (ibid) and Hervouët & Bruneau (op cit, p 49) illustrate an identical plate now in an American private collection.
