Both the lovely botanical decoration and the eccentric shape of this vase are closely associated with Pronk's production for the VOC. Vases of this form, but decorated with colorful blooms on a white ground, were in the Hodroff Collection and sold Christie's, New York, 21 January 2010, lot 475. A five-piece garniture decorated just as the present lot, its distinctive patterned ground so close to both Pronk's "Arbor" pattern and the "Plume" design, was sold Christie's, New York, 30 January 1993, lot 72.
