Each enameled in the French style with bands and sprigs of corn flowers, a gilt coronet surmounted by a dove to each side, the covers also with the initial T, flanked by entwined branch handles and with flower-head finials

Lot Essay

This pattern, popular on French porcelains of time, was replicated in Chinese porcelain for a number of families, including the Winthrops of Boston.
