Mark William Fisher R.A. (American, 1841-1923)
Mark Fisher & Margaret Fisher Prout Born in Boston, USA., Mark Willian Fisher studied at the Lowell Institute, Boston, and under George Innes. In England Fisher settled at Harlow, Essex, and became father to Millicent Margaret Prout, later the artist Millicent Margaret Fisher Prout. Fisher chiefly painted rural landscapes and village scenes, often tranquil, often busily populated by sheep, cattle and country workers. With rugged and energetic brushwork, Fisher draws from the weather, the terrain and the subject he portrays. Margaret was a painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, cattle, figure subjects and flowers. She studied art under her father and later at the Slade School 1894-97, marrying John Alexander Prout in 1908. A painter and teacher in the Impressionist style of figures, landscapes and still life. She eventually taught life classes at the Hammersmith school of Art.
