A wonderfully complex, stylishly spicy nose that is remarkably fresh if completely mature while displaying some secondary aromas leads to deep, broad, round and rich flavors with only the barest hint of finishing astringency plus a bit of wood tannin. This well outperforms the vintage and adds excellent length to boot. A great '87 that is drinking perfectly now but should hold well. Tasted: Jan 01, 2004 ALLEN MEADOWS
