of cardinal's hat form, painted in typical colours with a scene probably representing Queen Semiramis and Alexander the Great, the general depicted handing a crown to the Queen, he with his men behind him, she seated at a palace front with attendants all around, a landscape behind them, inscribed to the reverse ponditta mag ma regina gon narrecia a nollea clarra sparse uidjla bab llo nicha, possibly from the Guido di Merlino workshop or by a follower of Xanto da Avelli -- 10 3/8in. (26.5cm.) diam., circa 1545-50 (broken, repaired and restored)

The inscription is drawn from Petrarch, Trionfo della Fama II, 104:
