From the year 1860 Holland & Sons were employed in the furnishing of Marlborough House by Prince Edward, as part of a grand refurbishment scheme following the remodelling of the interior by the architect Sir James Pennethoen. Almost one hundred pages are devoted to the firms' work at Marlborough House amongst their Day Books preserved in the National Archive of Art and Design, at Blythe House, Olympia, London.
