Rectangular, with drop front enclosing seven drawers with u-shaped metal pulls and fitted on the interiors with cloth-lined inserts to hold inro, the top of the cabinet mounted with flower-engraved metal fittings and handle; the cabinet decorated on the exterior with scenes of night fishing under the full moon by the shore with seashells in gold, silver, black and red takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, togidashi and kirikane on a black ground of subtly textured lacquer simulating the aged patina of metal, the inside of the drop front divided into two triangular panels, one roiro and one with red ground both inlaid with rectangular mosaic reserves of mother-of-pearl
