Lot Essay

The intense loving gaze held between Krishna and Radha symbolizes here the strong will of the lovers to be unified as one. The intensity of this unifying gaze is emphasized by the artist in the expressions on the faces of the female onlookers. All regard the couple with looks of wonder and amazement, as they themselves become transfixed by this scene of intense love. The almost frozen stature of the onlookers is beautifully contrasted with the motion and eloquence of the swing and the flowing garments of the lovers.
