Lot Essay

A similar small bronze fangzi jing ("sanskrit script") mirror of comparable size (9 cm.) in the Sumitomo Collection, is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, Chinese Bronze Mirrors, Sen-Oku Hakuko Kan, Kyoto, 8 January - 6 March 2011, p. 86, no. 169. Another dated Jin dynasty (1115-1234) is illustrated in Ancient Bronze Mirrors in the National Museum of History, Taipei, 1996, p. 161.
