A LARGE JICHIMU SCROLL POT
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Made from eight vertical sections, the exterior carved in high relief with a continuous frieze of a pair of phoenixes in flight amidst peony, magnolia trees and bamboo growing from the band of rocks and earth above the foot, with a bird perched in a magnolia tree looking towards its mate in flight, all within bow-string borders
10¾ in. (27 cm.) high, 13 7/8 in. (35.3 cm.) diam.
