Northeastern India, Pala period, 11th/12th century
Seated in lalitasana on a double-lotus base over a stepped plinth, the right hand in varadamudra with a lotus stem in the left, clad in a dhoti and adorned with silver-inlaid jewelry, a pair of lotuses blossoming at the shoulders, the face with serene downcast expression and inlaid with silver, a pair of attendant figures resting on diminutive lotus blossoms, on either side, all backed by an aureole with flaming border, open latticework, and a foliate nimbus, with a pair of kneeling devotees at the base
