PETRUS PAULUS, AMSTERDAM, Second quarter 18th century
The case of typical form, the double arched hood centered by a clasp, pierced soundfrets, surmounted by giltwood figural finials, the trunk door with circular lenticle, on scrolled plinth base with bun feet. The brass dial with cast seasonal spandrels, the arched silvered chapter ring, signed PETRUS PAULUS AMSTERDAM, the brass engraved and matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, sectors for day of week and month, two ringed winding holes, date aperture above VI, with painted rolling moonphase, four pillar movement with anchor escapement, Dutch strike on two bells above; two large and two small weights, pendulum and doorkey
