The hood surmounted by three cloudbourne putti on a spreading socle with ribbon-hung garlands, above a square tapering pedestal headed by an Apollo mask, the white enamel dial with pierced and engraved ormolu hands, the twin-barrel movement with anchor escapement with strike on gong, struck with Lamnel Marti Médaille d'Or Paris 1900

Lot Essay

This pedestal clock is a copy of the celebrated model attributed to Jean-Henri Riesener (matre 1768), executed in 1785 and now in the Louvre. Another example was sold London, King Street, 23 September 2010, lot 343 (18,750 GBP) and 23 February 2006, lot 15 (19,200GBP).
