EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, OF THE FIRST MICKEY MOUSE BOOK, identified by the absence of Bobette Bibo's age on the title, comic strips from p.8 and 'Printed in the USA' on the front cover. The book contains the first recorded 'history' of Mickey Mouse and one of the first caricatures of Walt Disney. It was first printed in the autumn of 1930, and copies of this first run were offered almost exclusively in cinemas. Due to popular demand, a second printing was done in December 1930. In total, four printings of this first edition - totalling almost 100,000 copies - were printed over the span of about six months, 1930-1931. Very few survive and the game board and playing pieces, found in the present lot on pp. 7 and 9, are usually missing.
