A RARE PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE CORAL-GROUND DISHES
CAIXIUTANG ZHI HALL MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES, QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Each with shallow sides painted in the interior in iron red with five bats, wufu, confronted around a shou medallion and beneath a band of ruyi heads painted in green and pink enamel and reserved on a yellow ground, the exterior decorated with three enamel pink peony blossoms on a yellow ground and framed by a dense leafy scroll bearing further blossoms, the whole reserved on a coral ground

Lot Essay

The hall mark, Caixiutang zhi (Made for the Hall of Brilliant Elegance), is a Qianlong period hall mark. The same mark appears on a pair of bowls painted in iron-red and green enamel with Qianlong period poems, in the Xu Hanqing collection, sold in these rooms, 15 September 2011, lot 938.
