A Brass, Wrought and Cast iron single cylinder six pillar Beam Engine, built by Chadburn Bros. Sheffield circa 1840 with cylinder 1¼in. bore x 3½in. stroke, inward facing truncated 'D' valve and separate steam ways, delicate parallel motion with barrelled radius and anchor links, rod driven tank mounted air pump, barrelled, fluted connecting rods, gear driven Watt type governor and linkage (valve missing), inboard and outboard main bearings, the outboard with decorative cast frame and spoked flywheel, the entablature supported on fluted brass columns, the end columns of turned brass with gothic arches, the whole mounted on a simulated tiled floor on cast bed with cast flower and leaf decoration to eight panels (some rust and dirt) -- 20 x 18¾in. (50.8 x 47.5cm)
