An rare and unusual late 18th Century cast and wrought iron and brass model condensing overcrank engine with cylinder 2½in. bore x 4¼in. stroke, cylinder head lubricator, drain cocks and stuffing box with eye bolts, inward facing valve chest with separate steam ways, bow shaped crosshead with round bar guides, barrelled connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big end, webbed crank, the crank shaft supported on open 'A' frames, with flywheel (later), pierced eccentric driven valve, the rod with frame mounted guide, skew gear driven Watt governor, linkage and valve, floor mounted rod driven pump and valve and under floor mounted hot well with rod driven pump and rocking lever operated lift pump with flop valve sighted within the hot well, all original pipework with flanged joints with studded stuffing boxes and eye bolts. The cast iron engine floor with wooded surround is mounted on four wooden columns on a wooden base. Finished in black and polished brightwork -- 33½ x 20¼in. (84.5 x 51.5cm.) (excluding flywheel)
