The Hunslet Narrow Gauge 0-4-2 Side Well Tank locomotive 'Umoba', 3½in. gauge built to exhibition standard by N.C. King from works drawings circa 1967 with brazed copper boiler with eight superheater tubes and elements and fittings including twin water gauges, pressure gauge, safety, blower, twin injector, whistle, clack valves with shut off cocks and blowdown valves. Chassis details include twin outside cylinders with Walschaert's valve gear, footplate controlled drain cocks, finely finished motion, hand operated brake gear, two injectors with flanged joints, whistle and mechanical lubricator. Further details include hand feed pump, tank filters, duck board can floor, cab roof with inside planking, lagged steam pipes and dummy sanding gear, displacement lubricator and headlamp and removable spark arrester. Finished in green, black and maroon with yellow and black lining -- 18½ x 31½in. (47 x 80cm.). Boiler certificate dated 5/1970. Carrying box, firing irons

This model was awarded Gold Medal, Rand Society of Model Engineers April 1968 and was driven by the Mayor of Durban to officially open the new Model Engineers Track in 1970.
