'The present work, from the Muta-morphosis series, collates multiple glances into one. The photographic expression is a synopsis of piecemeal perceptions of Istanbul that remain in my mind. Photographs do not thoroughly convey what the naked eye sees, they include their author's interpretation. In other words, photographs should be read like a novel rather than an objective, scientific or factual body of text. I neither try to beautify Istanbul as old generations did, nor picture Istanbul's ugliness excessively like the new generation of photographers do. The picture was taken in Kuzguncuk, a place near Beylerbeyi, a neighbourhood of Istanbul personally dear to me, in which I have been living in the past fifteen years. On the left side of the photograph is the Asian part of the city where I attain peace, while the right side depicts the European side of the city where I find vibe and energy. The unusual coming together of the two sides is reminiscent of the notion of equilibrum: East-West, calm-hyperactive, traditional-global.'
