MOUTON
Mouton-Rothschild has 82 hectares of vineyards, of which 77 hectares are planted with red grapes with 77 Cabernet Sauvignon, 12 Merlot, 9 Cabernet Franc and 2 Petit Verdot. For the Grand Vin the average age of vines is 48 years with a density of 8500 per hectare planted on gravel soils.
Vinification of the Grand Vin takes place in traditional oak vats for between 15 and 20 days followed by maturation in oak barriques for between 19 and 22 months. Annual production of the Grand Vin amounts to approximately 300,000 bottles.
Mouton-Rothschild is famous for the exotic and powerful fragrance of cassis and pencil lead combined with opulence, voluptuousness and an impressive persistence of flavour.
