Lot Essay

The face of this unusual rug appears to be typically central Anatolian, but the structure with its deep red wefting and the broad red flat selvage indicate Mediouna or possibly Rabat in Morocco. A closer examination of the details confirms that this is indeed a Moroccan rug, but far closer in aesthetic to the Turkish than is normally encountered.
